About Our Founder

Michael Tagliere started in the real estate industry as an appraiser in the spring of 1971 when he went to work for Imperial Bank in Los Angeles, California. He appraised all types of real estate, especially those that produce income such as commercial, industrial, and residential properties.

In 1974, he accepted a position with Grant E. Bricker and Associates, an independent appraisal company in Sherman Oaks, California, where he specialized in residential properties.

He handled various residential appraisals, from bungalows to Beverly Hills estates. The new development project analyses and the highest and best use studies were his biggest and most challenging projects.

In the mid-70s, the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA)—commonly known as Fannie Mae—had an approval process for residential subdivisions. He appraised the La Jolla Villas, a 251-unit condominium development in La Jolla, California. This was the first project approved by FNMA in the United States. Over the next four years, he completed several of these projects.

Michael started Tagliere Company in 1979, an independent appraisal firm located in Northridge, California. His specialty continued with residential properties. In addition to the appraisals for fair market value, he became an expert in the field of before and after evaluations due to catastrophic events such as flood, fire, earthquake, and more. At that time, he also began teaching Real Estate Appraisal in the California Community College System.

After many years of contemplating getting a broker’s license, he finally did in 1995. He figured that his knowledge of real estate through his appraisal background was the perfect training for a successful career as a real estate broker.

His attention to detail, coupled with keeping his clients’ best interest in mind, was his winning formula for both client and broker. He continues to place emphasis on service and to treat his clients the way he and his family would want to be treated. Because of his practices, Michael is able to thrive primarily by referrals.

In 1999, Michael and his partners opened the Fred Sands of Valencia office in Valencia, California. It soon became one of Santa Clarita Valley's most prestigious and successful brokerages. In the spring of 2006, they had an opportunity to become Vintage Sotheby's International Realty. He has since then merged Vintage Sotheby’s with Coldwell Banker, giving us an even greater presence in the market.

Michael has been married to his wife Shirley since 1969, and together they have 3 married children and 8 beautiful grandchildren. He devotes his time and energy to his family, clients, as well as the agents that help make his business a success.
